Cautions

Please read the Instructions and below Cautions thoroughly before using.

  • While the exterior wood of the unit does not get hot during use, the screen can get very warm, and the lights themselves emit a lot of heat. It is best to never run the unit on or near any surface that is potentially flammable or sensitive to heat such as paper, soft plastics, bedding, drapes, etc.  Be aware that any surface near the front of the unit may become hot to the touch while the unit is in operation, so allow it to cool before coming into contact with skin or anything sensitive to heat.
  • Do not run the sauna without the screen.
  • Turn off the sauna unit immediately after use.
  • Do not touch the screen while the sauna is in use or immediately afterward, as it does get hot and can burn you.
  • To prevent getting body oil on the bulbs, do not handle bulbs with your bare hands. Instead, use a clean shirt, sock or other cloth.
  • When replacing a bulb, do not over-tighten the bulb as you may compromise the structure of the bulb.
  • Bulbs are very hot during and after use, so do not handle them until they have had sufficient time to cool.
  • Never allow the bulbs to be in contact with liquids while hot. This can cause the bulbs to shatter.  If you are sweating, be careful not to drip sweat onto the bulbs, as this can cause them to shatter.  The design of this unit is intended to prevent such accidents, and is one of the nice features of this unit.
  • Do not leave the unit on unattended while it is running.
  • Do not operate the unit if the wires appear to have any damage.
  • While the indirect light from the bulbs is not in itself damaging to the eyes, do not look directly into the lights while they are on. Do not wear sunglasses while using the unit.  Regular sunglasses will not protect your eyes from the infrared energy, and in fact will make things worse.  This is because they will lessen the amount of light reaching your eyes, which then causes your pupils to open up more thereby allowing more infrared into your eyes.  The brightness of the bulbs actually causes your pupils to shrink and reduces the amount of infrared entering the eyes.  There are glasses that can be purchased on Amazon that block infrared specifically if you feel such are needed, but most people do not use these.  You may also face entirely away from the unit to reduce light and heat exposure to the eyes if the brightness bothers you.
  • Sweating can cause dehydration. Be sure to drink water before and after your sauna.  Some people need to hydrate during their sauna, as well.  Contact your health or nutrition practitioner to ensure that you are properly hydrating while undergoing sauna sessions.
  • If you ever feel faint or ill in the sauna, get out immediately, lie down, hydrate, and contact your health or nutrition practitioner. If symptoms persist, get medical assistance immediately.  Stop the sauna at once if you feel very faint, if you stop sweating, if your face turns bright red, or if your heart starts to race.  These symptoms can indicate overheating or heat stroke.
  • Take care when moving the sauna unit. Handle it gently.  Do not bang it around.  The bulbs can break off at the base if the unit is jolted too heavily.
  • Do not sleep in the sauna or while using these lights on the body. If you feel you might fall asleep, set up a timer to wake you, or plug the unit into a timer that will cut off power after a certain set period of time.
  • Do not put infants or unconscious individuals in front of this sauna unit. If someone is disabled or frail, be sure someone is monitoring them while in the sauna.
  • Children should not operate this unit. If a child is doing a sauna, it should always be with adult supervision.
  • Do not use this light unit if you are pregnant.
  • If you have metal or other implants, consult your health professional before using this light unit.
  • If you are on prescription medication, check with a health professional before doing a sauna.
  • If you are sensitive to heat, start very slowly with the sauna, and be sure to coordinate with your health professional regarding use.
  • Do not use this light unit if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs in any way.
  • Do not plug this into a circuit that is overloaded or is not grounded.
  • Do not touch the power cord or switch with wet hands.
  • If a bulb starts to smoke or otherwise has noticeable changes, immediately turn off the unit. You will need to replace that bulb.
